Terting Continues Endurance Championship Success
Volkswagen Motorsport recently described Peter Terting as one of their “young guns” of endurance racing. Terting continued to prove his worth this weekend in the 2nd Round of the VLN Championship by sharing the driving duties in two different VW entries in the field of some 200 cars.
The 36th DMV 4 Hour Race started on April 30th at its usual 12 o’clock exactly, with glorious sunshine setting the stage for the day on the Nordschleife circuit at the famed Nürburgring. Terting’s endurance skills were on display in an SP3T class VW Scirocco for LMS Engineering, as well as the spectacular Golf24, where Terting has been instrumental in its development this season.
The SP3T class has become increasingly popular this season, with an amazing 22 cars in the class at the start of the long-distance race. LMS Engineering enjoyed a class win and 22nd overall with Terting and teammate, Maik Rosenberg. Terting’s team also set a fastest lap of 8:53.263 on the day. The two LMS Sciroccos were dominant again, with Terting and Rosenberg colleagues, Akata and Krognes, taking 2nd in class. Terting and Rosenberg take the lead in the VLN Championship standings with their victory.
On Monday, Volkswagen Motorsport resumed its testing program on the Nordschleife. The factory continues significant development of the Volkswagen Golf to make its return to the legendary 24-hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (June 23-26). The impressive driver lineup will include Terting, factory driver René Rast and former Formula 1 racers Johnny Herbert and Mark Blundell, as well as DTM driver Edoardo Mortara.Posted on May 4, 2011, in Uncategorized.
