Coming to America–Peter Terting

INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 – Versatile international driver Peter Terting is bringing his skill, focus and style to America to pursue a career in top-level sports car racing.

Terting, a native of Germany, has won races and championships for more than a decade in a diverse range of elite racing series in Europe, including karting, open-wheel, touring cars and sports cars.

“I’ve enjoyed racing primarily in Europe for the last decade, but I’ve always wanted to compete in America,” Terting said. “I’m committed to finding the ideal opportunity in sports cars in the States, and I think my passion, personality and speed will be a perfect fit in any elite series.”

Terting, 27, comes to America with vast experience in an impressive array of racing machinery.

Winning the German Karting Championship in 1998 catapulted Terting into open-wheel car racing in the German Formula BMW Championship in 2000. He then switched to touring cars, winning the German Volkswagen Lupo Cup title in 2002.

That success helped Terting land a ride in an Audi touring car in 2003 with the elite Abt Sportsline team in the prestigious DTM. He competed with Spanish car giant SEAT in the SEAT Leon Supercopa series in 2004, finishing second in the series standings in an Abt Sportsline entry.

Terting then moved to the world stage in 2005-06, competing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship as a factory driver for SEAT Sport. He earned one victory in each of those two seasons and also continued to race for Abt Sportsline in other series.

Since 2007, Terting has continued to expand his considerable skills by racing in numerous sports car and touring car series in Europe, including the WTCC, GT Open Prototype and Endurance Cup, German Formula Masters and GT Masters and VLN.

Terting also has used his charismatic personality throughout his motorsports career to bond with the public in a variety of non-racing roles. He has served as an instructor and demonstration driver at racing schools and at corporate motorsports events, and he also has served as a commentator for SEAT Supercopa championship races.

“The fans and general public seem to have much more access to the drivers in American racing, and that’s something I really enjoy,” Terting said. “I’m really looking forward to getting to know American fans. I’m very serious about my racing, but I like to have fun, too. I think they’ll like what they see!”

GRand Solutions LLC, based in Indianapolis, is representing Terting in his pursuit of a sports car racing opportunity.
